Buenos Aires Secret Spots: Paseo la Plaza

With restaurants, bars, shops and theatres, Paseo la Plaza has it all, plus a Beatles museum too! One of the top Buenos Aires secret spots, Paseo la Plaza is hidden inside a regular-looking city block in downtown Buenos Aires, between streets Corrientes and Sarmiento. The main entrance looks like a theatre, with movie posters lining the walls, but just past the ticket booth, the short passageway reveals an enchanting open-air space on the other side.

Paseo la Plaza, which has parking space for 500 cars in the car park next door, hosts a dozen bars and restaurants, including the Cuban restaurant Oye Chico and the artisan brewery Cerro Wank. If you want to embrace the real Buenos Aires and experience a taste of genuine porteño culture, grab a Friday-night beer or a coffee in The Cavern or any of the other bars in Paseo la Plaza. Show up a little early to explore the shopping centre, or Paseo de Compras, which includes clothes, record stores and artwork.

The careful landscaping of Paseo la Plaza makes it a pleasure to walk around. With three floors, you’ll find yourself strolling past the top branches of the area’s many verdant trees. Don’t miss the Beatles Museum, whose exhibits include the private collection of Argentine Rodolfo Vazquez, the largest collector of Beatles memorabilia in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records.
