Emiliano’s tip is to visit Café Las Violetas is one of the nicest cafés in Buenos Aires with its unique charm and delicious menu. Café Las Violetas is also a place with a rich history: in this café the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo began to come together to advocate for their sons and husbands who disappeared during the dictatorship.

Indulge in lunch, or a sweet treat, in an exceptional setting and enjoy the authentic porteño environment as Café Las Violetas is outside the traditional tourist itineraries and is full of local inhabitants who come here to have a traditional morning coffee and facturas, to meet up with other locals or just to read the newspaper. Café las Violetas is an authentic sample of the Buenos Aires of the last century; it was declared a Buenos Aires City Heritage Site, as its stained glass windows, chandeliers and Italian marble details have remained intact since it opened its doors more than 100 years ago. At the end of 1998 Las Violetas closed its doors for 3 years, but during this time it was fully renovated while maintaining its unique architecture, making it even more remarkable.
