Buenos Aires Celebrates Summer in the City

Buenos Aires will be celebrating summer in style with the cultural, Summer in the City Festival. Here is a guide to the main events of the Festival which begins on Saturday 14th January 2012.

1. Drive-in Cinema in the Rosedal: In the beautiful El Rosedal Park in Palermo the drive-in cinema will show 8 different independent films chosen by the experts from the BAFICI festival, between the 14th January and the 5th February 2012. Entrance is free and the films start at 9.00pm. Make sure you arrive early as there is limited space and for those of you without cars, you can bring your own chairs or sit in the floor. 2. Open-Air events in the Centenario Park Amphitheatre: The impressive amphitheatre in the idyllic Centenario Park in Caballito will be holding a number of fantastic open-air events, from poetry recitals and music concerts, to theatre productions and independent films. The Park will be the centre of the majority of cultural activity from the 17th January to the 9th February 2012. Click here to see what’s going on and when.

3. Musicals in the Amphitheatre in Mataderos: Here you can see the best musicals for all the family to enjoy between the 21st January and the 5th February 2012. The open-air musical performances and the beautiful amphitheatre will provide an unforgettable and unique night out in Buenos Aires. Click here to find out the schedule of musicals.

4. Rock and Reggae in Roca Park and Folklore in Puerto Madero: Enjoy a 3 day rock festival starting at 5.30pm on the 27th, 28th and 29th January in Roca Park with performances from 3 different bands each day. This will be followed by a Reggae festival the following weekend with 3 different reggae acts from  5.30pm on the 3rd, 4th and 5th February. Folklore performances will be taking place in the amphitheatre in Costanera Sur in stunning and modern, Puerto Madero on the 10th, 11th and 12th February and the performances will begin at 8.30pm. Click here to see the line-up of the Folklore performances in Costanera Sur.

5. Milongas in La Boca: Don’t miss out on seeing professional tango dancers in the authentic and traditional location of La Boca, between the 4th and 18th February 2012. Click here to find out the timetable of shows and performers.
