Bringing New Responsible Tours to Buenos Aires
During the week of the sustainable tourism, we are happy to introduce to you the wonderful work that the Fundacion Chacras de Buenos Aires is doing in La Boca, the Buenos Aires Delta and other vulnerable communities of the city. It is orientated towards generating a low impact on the environment and local culture, while helping to generate employment for local people.
BsAs4U have joined forces with Chacras de Buenos Aires to provide to all travellers the opportunity to take part in their responsible tours especially in La Boca neighbourhood. La Boca is one of the most attractive neighborhoods for travellers visiting Buenos Aires. Visiting La Boca strengthens the self-esteem and encourages the self-development of La Boca’s inhabitants while showing the world their real culture and tradition. This sustainable tour will provide an insight into the community’s history and today’s life and implicitly carries with it, a message of peace and understanding in its diversity.
Some of the responsible tours that Chacras de Buenos Aires promote are:
‘Circuit of yesterday and today’:
This sustainable tour includes a visit to the Puente Transbordador in La Boca followed by the Museo Benito Quinquela Martin, who was a famous Argentinean painter. You will visit the Union of Mothers (Asociacion Union de las Madres) which employs people from the local area with social difficulties. It has a restaurant, a youth club and a handy-craft souvenirs workshop with recycled materials made by the children themselves. The ‘Circuit of yesterday and today’ is a great responsible tour for those who wish to get a local’s view on the history of the area and see what is being done in the community to preserve the Argentine traditions.
‘Circuit of Argentinean Artists’:
Whilst on this responsible tour, you will visit two artists, Guillermo Mac Loughlin who specialises in silk screen prints and, Alejandro Fridman who makes art using recycled and plastic waste. These two fantastic artists will welcome you into their world and show you their masterpieces inspired by the surrounding area. At the end of this sustainable city tour, you will go to Bar Roma which holds a lot of history in the area. This responsible visit to La Boca will show you an authentic face of Buenos Aires while you’ll explore the influences of the popular Argentine culture on the contemporary artists’ work.
‘Circuit for Children’:
This sustainable tour will visit the Puente Transbordador in La Boca, followed by the Museo Celia Chevalier, a graphic designer and naïve artist that will amuse children of all ages with her magic house and her lovely paintings. For those who know Buenos Aires well, it will change your current perspective of the city and for those visiting Buenos Aires for the first time; you will be surprised by the authenticity and the history behind Celia’s museum atelier. This sustainable tour will take you to visit the old market of La Boca and will give you a taste of the daily life in this authentic neighborhood and gain an insight into the cultural activity in Buenos Aires.
We invite all our readers to support the wonderful work of Chacras de Buenos Aires by spreading the word about their tours and to help us to promote them among travellers, friends and the community in general. It is a different type of tourism that besides the fun and the new experiences of a new culture; will show another aspect of the reality of Buenos Aires while supporting the fair development of its inhabitants. Enjoy a day tour of art, culture, history and fun in La Boca!
