Lollapalooza Argentina 2015: To Go Or Not To Go?
One of the biggest music festivals in North America, up there with Coachella and Bonnaroo, has recently moved down South. Lollapalooza took Chile by storm in 2010, then spread to Brazil, and finally Argentina got her turn last year. And it’s back again in 2015! Taking place on 21 and 22 March in Argentina, this exciting festival is another reason why you need to head to Buenos Aires.

It’s All About the Money
Truth be told, music festivals have gotten expensive, and international travel even more so. The good news for tourists coming here is that Argentina’s weakened currency makes it much cheaper for those with dollars, euros and pounds. Considering that Lollapalooza 2015 tickets for the Chicago edition are averaging around US$300, Argentina’s AR$1,100 full weekend pass is considerably cheaper. The exchange rate also means that Argentina is a good-value travel destination.

Let’s Talk Line-up
The main headliner this year is Jack White, the main man of the moment, since he’s also topping Coachella’s line-up. More big names include Robert Plant, Pharrel Williams, Calvin Harris, The Smashing Pumpkins, Skrillex, Foster the People, Alt-J, Bastille, Kasbian and more. And since it is in Argentina, what is the point of going to a festival in another country without discovering new music? Some great local bands are also performing, so it’s a great way to experience the best of Latin music at the same time!

The Festival’s Organisation
It’s always difficult to predict the consistency in organisation of an event of this scale, but Argentina has a good track record in the execution of shows. A clear example of this was the last edition of Personal Fest in Buenos Aires, where there were so many bathrooms that there was virtually no queues, and they put out plastic on the field in case of rain and mud to protect people’s shoes. So we’re anticipating another well-organised event.
Transport in the Big City
Lollapalooza takes place in San Isidro, a neighbourhood just outside of the capital’s official city limits, which is easy to get to with either train or bus, leaving you free to enjoy your time at the festival. This holds true for the rest of your time in Buenos Aires. Argentina’s biggest city is easy to get around, despite its size. It’s accessible with plenty of cheap, convenient and safe public transport and you can cross from one side of the city to the other on the subway in just 30 minutes.

Autumn in New York Buenos Aires is beautiful!
Lollapalooza is very well timed this year, since autumn in Buenos Aires is beautiful. The summer here is very hot, so the arrival of autumn is much anticipated, and very beautiful, as the many trees turn colour, carpeting the ground in yellow leaves. Not to mention the weather is just perfect, not too hot and not too cold. Just ideal for touring the city, exploring the streets, taking a bike tour through the parks, or photographing the city with the soft light. Not too insult the other seasons, but the consensus is that autumn is the best time to enjoy Buenos Aires!
